Groundwater Sensor Installation at Cauayan City, Isabela

In Cauayan City, Isabela, another groundwater sensor installation took place on April 12, 2024. The installation was performed by Engr. Minandro Alejo, Engr. Jeremy Balderama, and Engr. Englebert Manmano. The following day, it was inaugurated alongside the SWIM Project 3 Stormwater Harvesting Facility. The inauguration ceremony, particularly the ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the building marker, was presided over by the DOST Secretary, Hon. Renato U. Solidum Jr., DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang; DOST-R02 Regional Director, Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera; ISU President, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino; ISU Vice President for Research Development and Extension Training, Dr. Orlando F. Balderama; and ISU Vice President for Administration and Finance Services, Atty. Romano P. Camayo. This inauguration happened as part of the agenda for the 2nd International Smart City Exposition and Networking Engagement (iSCENE 2024), which took place in Cauayan City from April 11 to 13, 2024.

The successful installation and inauguration of the groundwater sensor in Cauayan City, together with the SWIM Project 3 Stormwater Harvesting Facility, highlight the collaborative efforts of local government of Cauayan city, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Isabela State University (ISU) in advancing sustainable water resource management. By integrating these initiatives into the broader iSCENE 2024 agenda, the event not only underscored Cauayan City’s commitment to becoming a model smart city but also emphasized the crucial role of science, technology, and innovation in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
